How about those “Gut Feelings”?
Do you wait for inspiration to grab you and share the passion you will need to succeed? Do you secretly hope for someone to come along who will hold you accountable and guide you on the path to business success- even when you don’t really feel like it and would rather hide under the covers?
I know your first response might be to say, “No, of course not, who would….”
But hold on. Take a moment and think about it.
Let me re-phrase the question.
Do you run your business by a carefully thought out business plan, taking it step-by-step, logically through each day, charting your course, come hell or high water, unflinching in the face of fear, insecurity, un-paid bills, and challenges, meeting each deadline like the brave lone ranger, never making any mistakes, always producing a perfect product every time, on time, with perfect results?
All alone? Without any support?
If you do, I’d like to meet you. You are a rare breed. (Are you a human breed? Just curious…) I also want to know how long you have been in business. Because statistics say your chance of burn out is very high. Please be careful.
As for the rest of us humans, business plan or not, it is virtually impossible to separate the emotions, internal belief systems and day to day moods of our mindsets from the job of running our businesses.
I’ll be bolder. I don’t think it can be done.
Top business and success coaches agree that mindset is at least 80% of our success and could be higher. Only 20% of our success is coming from the strategies, plans, business coaching programs, letters we send or blogs we write. It’s our thoughts, hidden rules, mindsets, beliefs and moods that we allow to guide us in our daily lives and daily work.
Does that excite you? Or scare the bejeebies out of you?
What Do You Spend Your Time Working On?
How much time do you spend cultivating a good mindset? How much time paying attention to your mood, your thoughts, your hidden beliefs?
The quickest way to a breakthrough in your company isn’t by spending another sixty hours behind the desk. It’s to spend a few hours examining the hidden mindsets that are blocking your success and ruining the good mood that you need to take your company to the next level.
You ever try to jump up to that next level of success when you don’t feel like it? It’s like working through sludge. It isn’t productive, you make mistakes, you have no creativity and everything takes three times as long.
It’s because you haven’t begun at the beginning.
In your head.
Systems are important. Business plans are VERY important. Networking, building relationships, discovering your ideal client…all critical keys to your success.
However, if your mood is dark, you find yourself hiding, not able to motivate yourself to do the very things you KNOW you need to do to succeed, if you find procrastination to be your number one time spender at the end of the day, (along with Facebook and Twitter), if you feel like doubt, fear, a mentality of lack and insecurity are clouding your mood, then I have good news for you.
There is hope. A lot of hope.
Mood is changeable, it is created by thoughts, thoughts are changeable, they are created by beliefs, beliefs are changeable, they are created by hidden rules, hidden rules are changeable once we shed some light on them.
Your business is changeable—once we change your mood.
You don’t really have to be guided by the storms of mood. You can choose your mindset and run your business by that instead.
