Sirius Sunday: Get High!

There are two things this writer loves, two things that make her squeal with joy.

1.) A well-placed adverb (so unusual! So rare!)

and

2.) Kites!

One thing I love about Illinois is the wind. Take your fiberglass and ripstop nylon out to an open stretch of land (watch out for trees! Trees hate kites), and just try not to be in a better mood after even ten minutes of watching something bright and beautiful float in the air.

Now, I could make some stretching metaphor about making yourself like a kite and soaring above the problems that weigh you down, of learning how to navigate winds so that you can stay afloat, or of how important it is to stay tethered to a strong anchor no matter how fun it is to go crazy, but I don’t think I will.

Instead, I’ll just say that if you don’t have a kite, you should. Soaring kites lift your spirits with them, and everyone needs a mood boost every now and then. Or, if you’re in North Carolina or somewhere that doesn’t have wind, read Sirius Graphix for your intermittent lifts! (You wanted a moral? There we go.)

Intermittent Lifts

Saturday‘s surprise post gave us a glimpse into the life of  a writer, our own Wendi Kelly, who gave us a taste of her writing dreams and a glimpse of just how hard she’s willing to work to achieve them. Even the members of the Sirius Team need the tools of a good writer. Self-publishing or not, it takes guts and brains and effort to be a bona fide writer. And we’re rooting for you the same way we’re rooting for Wendi!

On Thursday Allison taught us how to make our websites navigable (great word, neh?) using a special list function and your site material. That’s right, kids; if you bring the materials, WordPress can bring the magic.

“But, but,” I hear you say, “I thought Sirius brought the magic.”

Ah, child. You are wise beyond your years.

On Wednesday we had a special guest post for the first time in a while—but it was definitely worth the wait. Our good friend Greg Dorchak discusses the option of self-publishing with grace and candor that just might convince you. Self-publishing really is the Sirius way; get what you have to say out there and make sure it’s said right. Trust in your message, and contact us for a consult if you want someone to help you get started.

Deb talked on Monday about the difference between design companies that make their clients rely on them to function and those like Sirius Graphix, that are all about enabling clients to be as independent as they can. One is out to keep you hooked, and the other (like us!) is all about helping you catch the wind so that you can soar.

Get your goals in order. Get a kite. Get Sirius about yourself.

Because you should know by now that we certainly are.
